"Visual Arts Icons is an ongoing personal project in which I pay homage to and photographically reference icons from the visual arts, including painting, photography and cinema. Giving each the same degree of reverence, the work I reference ranges from highbrow classical art, such as the work of Leonardo da Vinci, to lowbrow kitsch and erotica, such as the work of Vladimir Tretchikoff and Tom of Finland." - John Dobson

Preview D/O.31 Visual Arts Icons on Wednesday June 26th from 12-6pm or join us for opening night on Thursday June 27th from 6-8pm at Disorder Gallery.

JENNIFER HUTCHISON

D/O, Event, Opening, Art WalkElliott Cole

Jennifer Hutchison recalibrates the still life in a contemporary context, questioning perceptions of beauty and the tradition of the still life as a female domain.

Her upcoming exhibition is a departure for Hutchison, whose earlier exhibitions turned to the palette of rural life, equally romantic and abstracted. Influenced by the Dutch Golden Age, these paintings are presented on dark fields, romantic and moody. She draws upon the impermanence of life – decay, beauty and bounty.

Hutchison graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Art form the National Art School in 2017. She grew up in Regional NSW before moving to Sydney. A sense of open space and palette evocative of that dry rural landscape has become a foundation of her painting, both as a point of reference and point of departure.

Please join us for opening night of D/O.24 Jennifer Hutchison on Thursday January 31st from 6-8pm at Disorder Gallery

If you can’t make it for opening night, Jennifer Hutchison’s work will also be on display during 2019’s very first Sydney East Art Walk . Join Disorder and 15 other local galleries for this self-guided art walk on Saturday February 9th from 12-4pm. Maps will be available at Disorder and in all participating galleries.

D/O.24 Jennifer Hutchison runs through February 16th.
