Disorder Gallery

Alan Rose

Event, D/O, OpeningElliott Cole

Alan Rose returns to Disorder Gallery for just ten days only with D/O.32 Virtual Kinetics

Virtual Kinetics
works which change as the position of the viewer changes

Inspired by the Kinetic Art movement from the 60s, this exhibition demonstrates this virtual sense of movement with lenticular works, using vertical v-shaped elements which change colour as we move past them, creating various abstract forms.

A series called “Little Boxes”, evoking Pete Seeger’s song from the 60s (actually written by Malvina Reynolds) creates shadows and patterns that change according to light and viewer position.

Preview Alan Rose’s Virtual Kinetic’s on Wednesday July 24th from 12-6pm or join us for opening night on Thursday July 25th from 6-8pm Disorder Gallery.

D/O.32 Virtual Kinetics will be on display through August 3rd only, so be sure to see ‘the movement’ while you still can.

Bringing Sculptural Structure to Disorder

D/O, Event, OpeningElliott Cole

Picking up the threads of minimalism, kinetic art and optical art from the 60s, the work of Alan Rose is reminiscent of a time when art became less about the emotional state of the artist than the mental state of the viewer. The approach to his unique sculptural pieces links with Sol LeWitt’s conceptualism, where “planning and decision-making are made beforehand and the execution is a perfunctory affair”.

Using no direct representation, Alan’s art operates from the universal to the particular and investigates the boundary between order and chaos.

Join us for the opening of D/O.15 Alan Rose on May 3rd 6-8pm at Disorder Gallery.
