The Fool

At Disorder Gallery we showcase, embrace and encourage all forms of creativity. In an endeavor to expand our reach beyond the walls behind Door 108, we set out to find a new way for people to share experience, enjoy and embrace art.

Throughout 2020 we worked hard to create what has become our very first publication. From the mind and hand of artist Mitchell Charman comes a collection of poetry, illustrations, and short films known to the world as The Fool.

“What of those with both eyes wide open? Fools all, kicked to the curb for stressing the importance of depth perception. They’re the musicians, the artist, the storytellers, the bards. They see further and farther, but it’s hard to describe sight to those who choose not to see. I’m blind to many things, but I’ve never stopped looking down.

I’ve spent a lot of my time trying to comprehend the vastness and complexity of this crazy ride—both out there in the world, as well as inside the mind. These poems are my attempt at framing these perspectives into palatable, bite-sized pieces so that we may find courage (perhaps enjoyment) in being fools among the madness.”

In addition to thought, laughter, and a few philosophical moments, our work on The Fool has inspired the creation of a new outlet for Disorder artists.
