Gladiaskators

Don’t miss out on the official launch of “Gladiaskators”, an avant-garde retro-futuristic Art Deco collectibles and jewellery line by the artist Lipstik under his brand Lips76!

A collection of flashy neon-coloured artefacts from another universe, a timeless amazon civilisation of priestesses and sexy skateboard female warrior leagues, battling in holy skatepark temples, where mythological antique archetypes mix up with modern street art culture elements as anachronic chimeras.

Discover Lipstik’s first experiment to turn his unique erotic female creature 2D artworks and skate art into 3D fine decorative objects, figurines and jewels. These self designed and 3D printed prototypes, homemade replicated with resin, will also be displayed with newly designed “Gladiaskators” vibrant poster artwork.

Think Blade Runner, Mad Max, Rollerball… the project is a combination and a tribute to the artist’s youth and teenage year’s inspirations and aesthetical references; late 70’s/80’s Sci-Fi movies, cartoons, as well as the golden age of fantasy adult comics such as Heavy Metal magazine, visionary architecture and the science fiction novel Misandra from Claude Veillot.

Born in France in 1976, Lipstik has been a highly active and prolific graphic artist and designer since 1999 in Europe, North America and Australia. Now based in Redfern, he’s been involved in Sydney’s underground art scene for the last 8 years.

Fascinated by late 70’s Erotica, SCI-FI and junk food packaging, he creates super-sexy “Electric Pin Ups” compositions where women’s bodies merges with geometric shapes, urban infrastructure elements or packaging technical graphic symbols turned into metaphysical abstractions… With a Punk as well as a Pop art approach and a unique aesthetic originating from his graffiti and skateboard culture background, the artist combines realistic photomontage with vector graphics and Art Nouveau outlines with the electric colors of the 80’s airbrush art.

Lipstik has participated in Montreal’s Erotic Festival for 8 consecutive years. He was also selected twice as a winner of the Erotic Signature international contest and traveling U.S. exhibition Art Undressed which opened at the World Erotic Art Museum in Miami in 2008. In recent years he has exhibited at several art shows, festivals and galleries around Sydney.
